Information

The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (陸上自衛隊 Rikujō Jieitai?), also known by the abbreviation of JGSDF, is the main branch of the Japan Self-Defense Forces responsible for the land-based military operations. It is the de facto army of Japan.

SummaryEdit

The Anti-Spirit Team (対精霊部隊 Tai Seirei Butai?), also known with the abbreviation of AST, is a special secret unit within the JGSDF. It is designed to suppress and eliminate the Spirits by means of killing them, though, they have yet to do anything more than driving them off. The public have no knowledge of this Special Forces Unit. Currently, it is shown that the AST is made purely out of females and for the most part, teenage girls.

TriviaEdit

  • Tohka originally referred to the AST as the "mecha mecha squad."
  • Based on Episode 06, it can be concluded that there are at least 20 Wizards in the AST.
  • The AST seems to only rank Spirits by the size and destruction of their Spacequakes and how they fight back against them. This is best shown with Yoshino's B-Rank threat compared to the full potential of her powers.
    • The AST give Spirits their code names based on the appearance of their Astral Dresses, or the powers of the Spirit.
  • Every AST member has a Combat Realizer Unit (CR-Unit) and Combat Wiring Suit as standard equipment.
  • The JGSDF have a secret military train for underground transportation.
  • Kyouhei Kannazuki is the only (known/mentioned) male AST member in the JGSDF.
